We translate Indonesian civil-registry, academic and corporate papers into English to the standard sought by ICA, MOM, the Singapore courts and foreign missions. Since notaries public and commissioners for oaths form part of our firm, the same office can translate, certify and, should the destination require it, notarise the work or secure an apostille. The papers that cross our desk most are Akta Kelahiran (birth), Akta Perkawinan (marriage), Akta Cerai (divorce), Ijazah and Transkrip Akademik (degree and transcript), and Akta Pendirian (company incorporation).
What we need
A legible scan of the Indonesian original. Should it already carry a notarisation by an Indonesian Notaris or a legalisation from the foreign ministry (Kemenlu) or an embassy, send those pages as well so the translation takes in the entire bundle.
Typical documents
Akta Kelahiran, Akta Perkawinan, Akta Cerai, Kartu Keluarga, Kartu Tanda Penduduk (KTP), Ijazah, Transkrip Akademik, SKCK (police clearance), and Akta Pendirian Perusahaan with TDP or NIB extracts. Indonesian administrative labels (Catatan Sipil, Kemenkumham, Dukcapil) take their accepted English equivalents alongside the retained source term.
Notarisation and apostille
As a law firm, we route a certified translation directly to our notary public and, for Apostille Convention destinations, to the Singapore Academy of Law. Indonesia acceded to the Apostille Convention in 2022, so for anything heading back to Indonesia we will advise on the right sequence of steps. It stays in one office from start to finish.

Frequently asked questions
- Can you notarise the translation, not just certify it?
- Yes. Because notaries public practise within the firm, a certified translation can be notarised here and, for destinations inside the Apostille Convention, sent to the Singapore Academy of Law for the apostille. A single office sees the matter through, sparing you a separate translator and notary.
- My Akta Kelahiran was reissued recently in a new format. Does that matter?
- No. We work from whatever version you hold, be it the older provincial-government layout, the newer centralised Dukcapil layout, or a certified copy issued abroad through a Kemenlu office. The translation tracks exactly what the source presents.
- Do I need the Indonesian document legalised before you translate it?
- That turns on where it is going. ICA in Singapore will usually take a certified English translation on its own. An overseas embassy may instead want the original legalised first and then translated. Tell us the destination and we will lay out the order for you.
- Will MOM accept this for a work-pass application?
- Yes, as a matter of routine. Indonesian birth and marriage certificates and academic records translated and certified by us go in regularly with MOM work-pass applications, and we add notarisation in the same office should a case officer call for it.
