Notarisation usually refers to a Notary Public affixing his or her signature and official seal to a document, whether to certify the signing of a document in their presence, or to verify some fact or thing of which the Notary Public has certain knowledge.
A useful rule of thumb is that documents that are to be used or submitted outside of Singapore, need to be notarised. A common source of confusion arises where the requirement appears to state that a Commissioner for Oaths will suffice. This sometimes happens when the document does not take into account that the document is not signed in its country of origin. Please contact us to confirm the requirements.
Common services relating to notarisation are:
Witnessing of the signing of documents | S$40 per signature by the Notary Public |
Certifying a true copy of an original document | S$10 per document, $5 per additional page |
Please click the see more link below to understand the additional fees that are applied in addition to the above. For an accurate quote it is advisable to get in touch with us so we can understand your full requirements.
Please note that for witnessing of signing of documents, the person who is signing the document needs to bring the ID as stated in the document for verification of identity by the Notary Public. Please do not sign the document in advance. The Notary Public needs to see the person signing the document.
It is mandatory by law for a Notary Public to issue a Notarial Certificate for every document attested to or certified as a true copy. More than one document can be bundled to each Notarial Certificate. The number of Notarial Certificates required will depend on the party where the documents are to be submitted to. Please contact us to confirm the requirements.
Each Notarial Certificate costs S$75, and it is mandatory since 1 October 2019 for every Notarial Certificate to be authenticated at the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL). The authentication fee is S$87.20. The total fee for each Notarial Certificate is thus S$162.20.
For example, if you needed to certify a copy of single page document, such as a passport biodata page, the total fee would be as follows:
- $10 to certify one page of the passport as a true copy
- $75 for the Notarial certificate
- $87.20 for authentication, payable to SAL.
Total cost would be = $172.20.
Mandatory authentication of every Notarial Certificate is done by bringing the physical Notarial Certificate to the office of SAL. This is done on your behalf by us, and included in the fees quoted above. There are no additional service charges to bring your documents for authentication. The average processing time is 1-2 working days and we will contact you once your documents are ready for collection. If you require urgent processing, please let us know and we will do our best to assist.
