Distasteful experience with lawyer Rebecca where was told that the consultation would be timed and if any timing more than the pre-set timing would incur additional charges. Even goes on to say “your time starts now”. I mean I understand time is precious but to be so petty so as to time the meeting to the second is just unprofessional and off-putting. There are nicer ways to put such matters across or perhaps it would have been less off-putting if an admin staff had said the above rather than the lawyer herself.Edit: Noted from the reply from the firm that I was given a "free consultation". This was not a "free consultation" and in fact, was charged $250 for the consultation which was collected by the lawyer herself immediately after the consultation. The lawyer has time to personally collect payment but has to count to the second with a timer for the actual consultation itself. This was not about the charges but it is about professionalism and etiquette expected from a lawyer.

Thank you to the admin front desk who kindly brought me into the waiting room because I was almost 1 hour early. I decided to eat my buns that I bought from the bakery nearby.Suddenly, a lady barged from behind me and dumped some papers on the table. She didn't greet me or explain who she was. It caught me off-guard because my bread packet was on the table. I shyly closed my packet and the lady sat in front of me without saying a word and stared at me the whole time till I put my things away.Once I was done, she said in a hostile manner, "Check for me" while handing the paper. I was like still rushing to chew my food and swallow it up. I picked up a pen while reading. She cut me off abrasively "You don't need to sign!" I was really appalled and trembling.The whole experience was supposed to be a simple procedure but turned out to be so unwelcoming and unpleasant just because of one person's doing. Found out her name is Nurul. Please fire her.

I consulted with Jeremy regarding the situation where my landlord insisted on full rent payment for early termination of the tenancy agreement. The landlord even threatened legal action, citing Singaporean legal norms, despite the absence of an early termination clause in the agreement. Jeremy reviewed my tenancy agreement and clarified that since there was no provision for early termination, my focus should be on finding a replacement tenant to prevent any financial loss to the landlord and it's not my responsibility if landlord does not agreed with the replacement.Jeremy went a step further by helping me review follow up email to the landlord. The matter was successfully resolved and I can leave the country with a sense of security. I highly recommend consulting a lawyer, especially for foreigners facing tenancy conflicts, based on my positive experience.
